November 1, 2019 – FREE Dental Care for Veterans, Active Military & First Responders

Dentistry At Somerset is committed to serving those who have served our country and those that continue to serve!

Dentistry At Somerset held its third dental care for veterans event November 2, 2018. The entire team worked without pay to provide free dental care services to former and active duty military members. The Ames dental team served 37 veterans and the value of the dentistry was over $17,000. Donations and community support were provided by Ames Oral Surgeons, Fareway, FastSigns, Dynamic Mobility, Craig Carroll Photography, Starbucks, and Wallaby’s.

“Dental care is a growing need in our country. It is important to Dentistry At Somerset to give back to the community and to help others get out of pain and into happier and healthier smiles.” – Dr. Jason Niegsch

Dentistry At Somerset has been serving Central Iowa by providing its patients with dental care that will last a lifetime and by giving back to its local hospital, schools, community-service organizations and the United Way for nearly two decades.

Dentistry At Somerset has held three veteran events. The first year, the clinic provided $7,000 in care to 11 patients. Last year, it saw 20 veterans and provided $14,000 in care, and on Friday, November 2, 2018, the dentists and staff provided over $17,000 in care to 37 patients, one of whom traveled from as far away as Denver, Colorado for the services. Dr. Jason Niegsch is a veteran himself. He served as a dentist in the U.S. Navy stationed in Okinawa, Japan, then in Chicago, IL until 2002.

Dentistry At Somerset partnered with national organization, Smiles for Freedom. Since 2015 Smiles for FREEdom has served veterans and/or military service members and provided over $450,500 in free dental services! Participants for these events are veterans or local military service members. Services provided are appointment-based only and participants do not need to stand in line through the day. All services provided on this day are FREE. All work and care provided by volunteers on this day are FREE. All work is provided at the highest standards of quality and care that we would provide on any given day to our wonderful patients. Free dental services included a combination of diagnostic services, cleanings, fillings, extractions, and other dental health services based upon individual needs.
