IA Mission of Mercy (IMOM)
What is IMOM?
The Iowa Mission of Mercy is a large scale, two-day community dental clinic where dental professionals and general volunteers donate their time to provide free oral health care to individuals who face barriers to receiving dental care. A full-service field dental clinic with 100 dental operatories is set up and patients are treated on a first come, first served basis. Since the first Iowa MOM in 2008, almost 15,000 patients from all areas of the state and beyond have received free dental care totaling nearly $9.9 million!
Dr. Niegsch and the Dentistry At Somerset team are committed to donating their time and talents to serve those who need it most. The IMOM team counts on our Ames Dentistry At Somerset team to help change lives at this event. Dr. Niegsch has been named the Chair of the 2020 IMOM event which will be held in Ames (date to come).
“This is one powerful way that we can truly change lives. It’s a humbling experience to have someone sit down in your chair who’s in excruciating pain that they’ve been living with for months and see them walk away pain-free and smiling. This not only changes the patient’s life but it changes my life and my team members’ lives too. We’re grateful to have the opportunity to make a difference.” – Dr. Jason Niegsch
In October of 2018 the Dentistry At Somerset team drove to Sioux City, Iowa to work at the annual event. View our 2018 highlight video here :
