Dental Assistant

Qualifications/Skills

Dentistry At Somerset is a thriving, family-owned private dental practice seeking charismatic dental assistants with a growth mindset. You will work with a team of over 25 talented professionals who are smart, driven, and upbeat, with excellent patient service skills. We currently have three skilled doctors who work to elevate all team members in a fun environment.

Under direct and indirect supervision, the dental assistant will assist the dentist in both administrative and clinical duties such as:

  • Preparing the patient for their procedure or exam
  • Sterilizing and disinfecting instruments
  • Setting up instrument trays, preparing materials
  • Assisting during dental procedures

This position will provide patient and practice support services, including, but not limited to, personal assistance, medical attention, and emotional support.

Qualifications/Skills

You will need to be a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) or Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) with an Iowa license. The ideal team member will have at least one to five years of dental assisting experience.

Dental Hygienist

Responsibilities:

Dentistry At Somerset is a thriving, family-owned private dental practice seeking charismatic dental hygienists with a growth mindset. You will work with a team of over 25 talented professionals who are smart, driven, and upbeat with excellent patient service skills. We currently have three skilled doctors who work to elevate all team members in a fun environment.

Our practice is committed to helping patients feel valued and special while enjoying a positive experience at their appointments. Our team members are comfortable educating patients and feel confident treating periodontal disease.

As the dental hygienist, you are the chief preventive provider of the practice. You motivate, educate, and provide excellent treatment. Under indirect supervision, you will remove hard and soft deposits from teeth. In addition, you will:

  • Examine oral areas, head, and neck for signs of oral disease.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene
  • Provide preventive dental care
  • Take and develop X-rays
  • Apply fluoride or sealants

By discovering and documenting areas of failure, both periodontally and restoratively, you facilitate the dentist’s diagnosis and treatment recommendations.

Qualifications/Skills:

You will need to be a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) licensed in the state of Iowa. The ideal team member will have at least one to two years of dental hygiene experience, an ambitious and fun attitude, problem-solving skills, and a passion to help people. You will have the opportunity to earn over $40 per hour. We offer competitive hourly pay, plus bonuses. Our compensation includes a relocation package for candidates outside Ames/Story County. Other benefits include:

Associate Dentist

Responsibilities:

Under indirect supervision or independently, the associate dentist diagnoses and treats problems with patients’ teeth and tissues of the mouth, along with providing guidance to prevent future oral problems. The associate dentist designs treatment options for patients with other support personnel and serves as an expert in preparing dental plans. This position must provide patient and practice support services; including, but not limited to, personal assistance, medical attention, and emotional support.

Qualifications/Skills:

You must have a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD), licensed in the state of Iowa.

Patient Coordinator

Responsibilities:

Dentistry At Somerset is a thriving, family-owned private dental practice seeking charismatic Patient Coordinators with a growth mindset. You will work with a team of over 25 talented professionals who are smart, driven, and upbeat with excellent patient service skills. We currently have three skilled doctors who work to elevate all team members in a fun environment.

The patient coordinator will promote practice growth by effectively implementing administrative procedures in a positive, professional presentation as a member of the front desk team. They will project the friendly atmosphere of our practice by welcoming all visitors in a cheerful and professional manner. Other duties include:

  • Answer, record, and retrieve telephone messages
  • Schedule appointments in consideration of production and capacity
  • File insurance claims
  • Accept and record payments made at the time of service, via web, mail, and telephone
  • Monitor reception area and break room for neatness and cleanliness
  • Reposition chairs, dispose of trash, wipe down the table at the end of the night, etc.
  • Welcome patients and visitors into the office with a smile
  • Check patient records and provide with necessary forms upon arrival (i.e. medical history, HIPAA consent, contact information, etc.)
  • Set up appointments with specialists when indicated, and coordinate with specialists’ offices
  • Present financing options and make necessary arrangements
  • Make courtesy calls for treatment follow-up, such as post-op calls when necessary

Qualifications/Skills:

You will need one to two years of healthcare administrative experience. Prior insurance experience is a plus. You will need exceptional interpersonal skills to maintain a positive rapport with patients, doctors, other staff members, and the community. Effective verbal skills to communicate clearly and professionally with patients and staff are also necessary, along with a professional personal presentation.
